Emergency Relief Desperately Needed in Los Angeles County

We can support people affected by wildfires.

About this Giving Opportunity

Five dangerous wildfires, including the destructive Palisades fire, are burning in Los Angeles County. Fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds, the wildfires have burned more than 60 square miles and destroyed more than 12,000 buildings. More than twenty people have died and dozens more are missing. More than 90,000 people are under evacuation orders. There is a state of emergency for affected areas and there are risks that the situation could worsen.

Parts of Los Angeles County have received no significant rainfall in months. The very dry conditions, and winds of up to 100 miles per hour, drove the rapid spread of the fires, and complicated the heroic efforts of firefighters. None of the fires are completely contained at this time. It is the most destructive fire in LA history.

We can help the people of Los Angeles County by supporting organizations providing emergency relief.

  • American Red Cross: Providing food and shelter to evacuees.
  • World Central Kitchen: Supporting first responders and families impacted by wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
  • California Fire Foundation: Providing immediate and long-term relief to communities and survivors of wildfires.
  • California Community Foundation: Addressing the complex challenges and unleashing the extraordinary potential of Los Angeles County.
