Americares Response to Hurricane Helene – Immediate Relief Efforts Underway

op AMERICARES FOUNDATION INC

Your help is needed to support Hurricane Helene response efforts.

Hurricane Helene made landfall late Thursday on Florida’s Gulf Coast as a Category 4 hurricane before heading north, with heavy rains and strong winds that resulted in catastrophic flooding, unpassable roads and bridges, widespread power outages and damaged and isolated communities.

Americares response teams were on the ground immediately, focused on the health needs in the hardest-hit communities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, having reached out to over 360 partner clinics with offers of assistance before Helene made landfall.

Your donation is vital in helping to restore health services to survivors.

In the first six months after the hurricane, Americares shipped more than 17 tons of medicine and relief supplies to partner organizations in affected areas, including 1,300 bottles of infant formula and 5,120 tetanus vaccines to protect survivors cleaning up the damage. The aid deliveries also include diabetes medicine, antibiotics and hygiene kits.

To help restore health services, Americares also provided 31 organizations across five states with more than $1 million in emergency funding.

Additionally, Americares is committed to supporting the mental health needs of both survivors and first responders. The long-term impact of such disasters often includes trauma, stress, and anxiety, and we are preparing to deploy psychosocial support services to address these rising needs.

Thank you for standing with us as we respond. Together, we’ll bring hope and health to the communities affected by this disaster.

*Should Americares raise funds in excess of what's needed to respond to this particular crisis, the funds will be redirected to where the need is greatest.
