Support UNICEF's Hurricane Recovery Response in Mexico

của UNICEF USA

Nearly six months after Hurricane Otis made landfall on the Mexican Pacific coast near Acapulco as a powerful category 5 storm, humanitarian needs for children persist. While hospitals and medical units are now functioning, gaps in the availability of medicines,
medical supplies, and staff persist; the prevalence of dengue and malnutrition remain of concern, given the need for prevention and response; and concerns remain regarding the
psychological impact of the disaster on affected children.

On the ground in Mexico since 1954, UNICEF was working with partners before, during, and after the storm. Since the disaster in late October, UNICEF has reached over 32,700 people with critical interventions, and continues to implement response interventions in Acapulco and Coyuca de Benítez, focusing on child protection, nutrition, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), and education. UNICEF has reached over 1,000 children with nutrition assistance in affected areas, provided 1,300 children and women with primary healthcare, and reached over 25,000 children and teachers with educational support.

With your help, UNICEF can continue this recovery and resilience work to support children and families affected by this catastrophic storm.
