WCK's Response to Typhoon Halong in Alaska (Oct. 2025)

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is in Alaska, where Typhoon Halong left a devastating wake of flooding and destruction in remote coastal cities. The storm brought hurricane-force winds, storm surges, and floods that swept away homes.

WCK is serving meals to first responders and families displaced from their homes, many of whom have been relocated to shelters in Bethel—a hub accessible only by air, river, or 4-wheelers. We’re using planes, boats, and ATVs to reach families cut off by flooding, including delivering 700 pounds of food to Nightmute. Along the Kuskokwim River, our teams are bringing meals to remote coastal communities and cooking for evacuees sheltering in Anchorage.

WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis around the world.
