Help UNHCR's Emergency Response in Afghanistan

A devastating 6+ magnitude earthquake has struck Afghanistan, killing hundreds of people and destroying entire communities. Homes have been reduced to rubble and countless families are exposed to the elements.

Search and rescue operations are underway and UNHCR is on the ground, mobilizing emergency shelter and life-saving relief items to affected areas like Kunar.

This disaster is another blow for the people of Afghanistan, who are already living through multiple crises. Millions are facing extreme poverty and hunger, as well as the impact of decades of conflict, a severe drought, and economic collapse. More than 2.4 million Afghans have returned or been forced to return to Afghanistan this year, to communities which are already struggling.

UNHCR and our partners are racing to provide family tents and vital supplies to survivors inside Afghanistan, and prevent more lives being lost.

But we are dealing with crises on multiple fronts, and our emergency response is already stretched to breaking point.
